Amorepacific celebrates Earth Day with a new project collecting glass bottles used for cosmetics

Amorepacific Group, in partnership with the Korea Resource Circulation Service Agency (KRCSA), officially launched a pilot project to collect glass bottles used for cosmetics on April 22, coinciding with Earth Day. This project is part of the initiative under the memorandum of understanding signed on February 15th to promote the collection and recycling of cosmetic glass bottles. It involves two apartment complexes in Osan, Gyeonggi Province, and three in Cheonan, Chungcheongnam Province, participating in the pilot program.

These complexes have installed designated collection bins for cosmetic glass bottles. Once collected, the bottles are initially sorted at Amorepacific’s Logistics Center located in Osan and then transported to glass recycling member companies of the KRCSA. Here, they undergo further sorting and crushing processes. These ingredients are then incorporated into recycled materials of Verescence Pacific, primary packaging partner of Amorepacific Group, to make new cosmetic containers. Verescence Pacific recently completed third-party verification in March for using 10% recycled glass material in cosmetic containers, according to standards set by the European Container Glass Federation (FEVE).

Through this pilot project, Amorepacific Group plans to incorporate up to 20% of these recycled glass bottles into some of their flagship products, including the ones from Sulwhasoo, Laneige, Hera, and Hanyul.

Additionally, Amore Mall is running a lucky draw event for the customers participating in the 'AMORE:CYCLE' campaign, an online initiative for collecting cosmetic containers. Winners of the draw will receive refillable product from Hanyul brand or Primera’s product that uses uncoated glass to facilitate easier recycling.
