At 8:00 pm on Mar. 10, 2009 (based on Korean Standard Time), AMOREPACIFIC Corp. (President and CEO, Suh Kyung-bae) held a ceremony to sign on MOU with International Biological Material Research Center (IBMRC) under the control of the Korea Research Institute of Bioscience and Biotechnology (KRIBB) for researches on possible applications of plant diversity resources. 
This signing ceremony was held in the presence of Mr. Jeong Hyeok, the project director of Plant Diversity Research Center (PDRC), Hak-hee Kang, chief director of AmorePacific R&D Institute, and other parties interested in Korea-China Biotechnology Research Center and Korea-China Biological Material Research Center under Yunnan Academy of Agricultural Sciences (China). 
With the MOU, AmorePacific will be able to spur on research and development of new materials for cosmetics based on traditional botanical resources used by a variety of minorities across Costa Rica, Indonesia and China. 
This can make that AmorePacific will procure botanical resources from IBMRC under KRIBB, and use them for scientific researches into their biological mechanism, anti-aging and whitening efficacy, and clinical safety. Moreover, it is expected that this MOU will also work well in the interest of AmorePacific to expand researches into international biological resources in collaboration with IBMRC under KRIBB. 
AmorePacific has made a series of efforts to research promising new materials for creating the best quality of natural esthetics from the nature. In order to procure botanical resources distributed all over the world, AmorePacific has tried to build a network with academic institutions worldwide including laboratories and universities. And it has been rolling out a variety of activities, such as investigation of literatures on traditional medicines, native folk medicine around the globe, and field survey and plant sampling in certain locations with a wealth of medicinal herbs. 
Model cases of AmorePacific's efforts to discover new materials include the launch of new lines such as Laneige Hydra Solution (using cosmetic moisturizer essence based on Himalayan ice water passing through Hunza, Pakistan) and IOPE Plant Stem Cell Skin Renewal (based on Blue bugle (Ajuga reptans), a sort of Labiatae lives across Eurasia).
