Make a Plan, Take a Trip, and Challenge Yourself
AESTURA BM Team Kang Hyun-seo
Rest and work mesh with each other like cogwheels. Stepping out of your hectic routine and taking an imaginary trip can revitalize your body and spirit. The first part of My Hashtag series uses five keywords to see how Kang Hyun-seo from AESTURA BM team is striking the balance between rest and work.
#The Path to Amorepacific
I've been interested in beauty since high school. I was active in an online fragrance community during my school days and even joined a university fragrance club. At that time, our club was sponsored by Amorepacific, which led me to seriously prepare for joining the company. Right after completing my master's program, I applied. After joining Amorepacific, I spent nine years in the Research Lab, moved through the Strategy Team, and now, in the AESTURA BM team, I am involved in planning new derma cosmetics. My role is to provide solutions to our customers' skin problems. Based on my years of experience and knowledge, I'm focused on planning various new products.
#Pride in AESTURA
Pharmaceutical research-based products from AESTURA receive a lot of feedback about improving skin conditions. When I was in the lab, it wasn't easy to feel our customers' reactions directly. But now, I can feel their responses in real time. Collaborating with experts like dermatologists feels even more special. Personally, using AESTURA products, I often hear compliments about my skin. Whenever I hear that, it drives me to do better. Even if the product wasn't what I planned, seeing people enjoy AESTURA products always uplifts my mood.
#Weekends Like Vacations
I try to treat every weekend like a vacation. You tend to actively move outside your accommodation when you're on vacation. Even though weekends repeat every week, I choose to engage more, especially to spend quality time with my kids. Playing basketball with them or gaming together feels more precious to me than any other form of rest. After spending a fruitful weekend with my kids, I feel energized when returning to work. Recently, we traveled to Bali as a family. We learned to surf, visited mangrove forests, and had many new experiences. Recharged, I feel like I'm performing even better in my job.
#The Spinning Globe, Reflections on Everyday Life
I love looking at the globe. While I wish to visit many countries, it's at least an indirect experience for me. Spinning the globe makes me feel like I'm taking a trip worldwide. I'm so fond of globes that I have several globe-related apps on my phone. Just this morning, I traveled to various places worldwide using a globe app. Even though it was just my commute, it brought me joy, as if I had taken a brief journey. Imagining places I'll visit in the future gives me a positive boost in my daily life. Whenever I do this, my other worries seem to fade. It's also handy when I need a break from work. Thanks to the globe, I feel like I'm achieving a balance between work and life.
#Guns, Germs, and Steel
Even though I've been with the same company for nearly 15 years, I always strive to bring about change in my tasks. Every time I do, I reflect on how those changes influenced me, believing that the experiences have made me grow. This has led me to firmly believe that “change is inherently good.” A book that inspired this belief is ”Guns, Germs, and Steel”. While it might not be directly related to my work, reading it made me see things in a new light. It made me realize that humans can change depending on the conditions and environment and that we can consciously make changes that improve ourselves.
