APMA to Extend Andreas Gursky Solo Exhibition to September 4

  • “Hoping to reach more audience to experience Andreas Gursky’s work, the essence of contemporary photography”
  • Amorepacific Museum of Art (Director Jeon Seung Chang) extends the solo exhibition of the master of contemporary photography, Andreas Gursky, to September 4.

The artist’s first solo exhibition in Korea, Andreas Gursky, which opened on March 31 this year, exhibited 40 key pieces of the artist, including two new pieces unveiled for the first time in the world, and received much acclaim and positive response from audience. The response was so huge that there were too many applicants who signed up for the limited sale of exhibition posters with the author’s genuine signature during the exhibition that the museum had to conduct a live lucky draw broadcast of the posters.

There were, especially, many requests to extend the exhibition from visitors inspired and moved by the resonance brought on by the overwhelming size of works and exhibition space. As a result, Amorepacific Museum of Art (APMA) discussed with the artist and decided to respond to the support from the audience by extending the exhibition, which was to end on August 14, by three weeks. The museum also plans to upload a special video of an interview with the artist, where he answers few questions about the exhibition posted by visitors on Instagram and expresses gratitude for their love and support, on APMA’s Instagram account.

Amorepacific Museum of Art said, “with the extended exhibition, we hope to reach more audience so that more people can experience the works of Andreas Gursky, which are the essence of contemporary photography.”
