As a Chinese national residing in Korea and someone who loves K-beauty more than anyone else, I’d like to share the essential items that beautifully enhance both my work and personal life.

Originally from Shanghai, China, I am in my sixth year of living in Korea. Being a foreigner in Korea sometimes leads to moments of identity confusion. During such times, I rely on certain elements to keep my character steadfast. The #passport, a symbol of Korean-Chinese, reminds me that I am a Chinese person who loves K-beauty every time I use it. At first glance, I might seem neatly put together, but it’s my #sneakers—with their subtle details—that showcase my unique individuality. My desired hairstyle, crafted with #mise en scène’s curling essence, instills confidence from the tips of my hair. Lastly, my long-time friend, a #basketball, is a testament to my overflowing energy and enduring passion. In this sense, my real hashtag is #Passion.
The #Passport: A Symbol of Foreigners in Korea
During high school in China, I experienced the peak of K-beauty firsthand and decided to come to Korea to learn about Korean beauty marketing. Fortunately, as a member of Amorepacific, a pillar of the global K-beauty trend, I am dedicated to representing Amorepacific and promoting K-beauty. Although I am originally from China, my heart aligns closely with that of a Korean who loves K-beauty. Having lived in Korea since college, I have many Korean friends and plan to continue living here, fostering a deep affection for the country. People around me even refer to me as a Korean-Chinese. My #passport symbolizes my passion and dedication.
#Sneakers: My Unique Identity Item
At first glance, my style may seem understated, but my #sneakers add a subtle yet distinctive point to my outfits. I typically pair neutral-colored shirts and slacks with #sneakers with a unique twist, allowing me to express my individuality. In essence, my #sneakers are my identity items. I make it a point to acquire eye-catching #sneakers and likely own around a hundred pairs. Yes, I am a #sneaker enthusiast and a dedicated #sneaker collector.
#Perfect Serum: A Symbol of a Global Trend Catcher
In my role, I support and manage local strategies for our subsidiaries in Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, and China to ensure seamless operations. Specifically, I handle New Product Development (NPD), launch strategy formulation, content localization, Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) operations, and business metrics management for our overseas operations.
The most crucial aspect of this work is maintaining close communication and collaboration with our overseas subsidiaries. To facilitate effective communication, I invest significant effort in understanding the respective countries' cultures, markets, and trends. One of the most memorable experiences in my role was the global campaign for mise en scène #Perfect Serum earlier this year. By accurately capturing each country's unique regulatory requirements and corporate needs, we enhanced brand recognition of mise en scène in ASEAN countries. We achieved impressive year-over-year sales growth for #Perfect Serum.
#20-Year-Old Friend #Basketball
The foremost keyword I can never ignore when introducing myself is ‘basketball.’ I had a small basketball hoop at home from a young age, and the NBA is my favorite TV program. I even chose to live in a residence close to a basketball court, underscoring my deep-seated love for the sport. Naturally active by disposition, I relish both engaging in and watching sports. Remarkably, playing basketball infuses me with unparalleled energy. As I sprint across the court, the surge of unstoppable energy and competitive spirit dissipates, leaving me with immense joy and fulfillment.

Fueled by this passion, I am also an active member of Amorepacific's in-house basketball club, Pacific Rim. I aim to compete in numerous tournaments alongside fellow club members and achieve outstanding results.

If you aspire to undertake a role in global marketing, three essential skills are indispensable. The first is foreign language proficiency. Effective communication with international counterparts hinges on solid language skills, so I commit to studying English diligently daily. The second skill is trend analysis. Grasping the culture, market trends, and customer needs of the countries you aim to manage can be immensely advantageous. In my experience, I frequently reference social media platforms like TikTok and Instagram, which help uncover customer interests and desires that might otherwise go unnoticed. For example, I derived the insight that Muslim customers have a significant demand for perfumes suitable for wearing with hijabs. The third skill is communication. Amorepacific’s global marketing team operates by developing products in BM, creating content in MC, and handling sales in corporate offices. Consequently, executing a single project necessitates collaboration across various departments. Therefore, I believe that empathetic and emotionally resonant communication is essential for steering projects in a positive direction.
