AMOREPACIFIC STORIES X Libet

Each month, AMOREPACIFIC STORIES collaborates with illustrators who are inspired by Korean beauty, visually expressing the ‘Create New Beauty’ that Amorepacific pursues.

#Theme

January 2026 marks the beginning of a new year. To celebrate, AMOREPACIFIC STORIES has taken a closer look at Amorepacific through the eyes of illustrator Libet, an artist who creates imaginative worlds through girls, flowers, and cosmic landscapes. This artwork explores the values and meaning of beauty that Amorepacific has cultivated over time through symbols found throughout its spaces—the moon jar that inspired the headquarters building, chaekgado (a traditional Korean still-life painting of books and scholarly objects) reimagined as a space of wisdom, and camellia flowers. Follow the elements in the illustration as you let your gaze wander slowly. The longer you look, the more beauty you’ll discover.

We wish you all a happy New Year. May it be a year when your beauty shines fully. AMOREPACIFIC STORIES sends you our heartfelt wishes.

Hello! I’m illustrator Libet. I’m delighted to connect with AMOREPACIFIC STORIES subscribers through this collaboration. I’ve always worked to convey lasting emotions through my art, and I prepared this piece with that same intention.

#Artist Interview

Q. Could you introduce the artwork you created for AMOREPACIFIC STORIES?

This piece draws its greatest inspiration from the vertical restraint and central courtyard void of the Amorepacific building. Observing that space, I sensed it was a place where wisdom accumulates and flows, which led me to merge it with chaekgado, a traditional folk painting, to express it as an ever-expanding space of knowledge. I wanted to interpret Amorepacific’s dedication to exploring beauty in my own way, drawing on chaekgado’s symbolism of learning and growth. Beyond that, I wove together classical composition with contemporary sensibility—the moon jar that inspired the building’s design, camellia flowers, a dreaming girl—allowing tradition and the present to flow naturally into one another. I’ve always been drawn to old objects, architecture, and paintings. As I imagined the stories held by things that have endured through time, I brought that perspective into this work.

Q. What message do you most want to convey through your work?

The objects in the piece aren’t mere decoration—each one is a symbol I researched and chose thoughtfully. The camellia flowers placed around the figure represent Amorepacific, while the moon jar embodies how inspiration from the past—much like the headquarters building reinterpreted from a traditional object—connects to the present and new beginnings. I hope people will discover the hidden stories in the painting as they reflect on the process and context behind the placement of these elements on the canvas.

Q. What beauty do you hope viewers discover in your work?

I hope they’ll naturally feel the spatial philosophy Amorepacific has built over many years within this single painting. As your eyes move along the symbols in the composition, you’ll encounter scenes created by the placement of each element and the negative space between them. Rather than offering a prescribed interpretation, I’d love for each viewer’s discoveries to contribute to completing this work—like a treasure hunt where everyone finds their own beauty.

Q. What thoughts came to mind when you heard about Amorepacific’s ‘Create New Beauty’ philosophy?

I found it very moving—the idea of opening new possibilities for beauty so everyone can shine more confidently and healthily in every moment. I believe there’s no fixed definition of beauty, that it’s created through the process of getting to know yourself. It struck me that beauty is about honoring yourself rather than conforming to others’ standards.

Q. What does one’s own beauty mean to you?

I think it’s about accepting myself as I am and expressing the colors I love. Beauty isn’t something you achieve all at once—I believe it’s a process of slowly building it by asking yourself questions.

Q. Do you have any personal habits or principles for creating your own beauty in daily life?

I pay close attention to moments in everyday life where my heart lingers. When I see artwork and feel moved by its beauty, I keep thinking about how I might translate that feeling into my own drawings. When someone tells me my work moved them, that moment becomes my greatest motivation.

Q. How does it feel to work with AMOREPACIFIC STORIES?

It was meaningful to look deeply into a company’s philosophy. For this project, I researched more extensively than usual and spent a long time considering every aspect of composition and placement. Through that process, I rediscovered the joy of drawing and was delighted to express Amorepacific’s sensibility through my art.

Q. Finally, what would you say to those striving to discover their own beauty?

Finding your own beauty might take longer than you think. But I believe that if you keep trying to understand yourself without stopping, you’ll eventually meet people who recognize that unique color in you. Don’t rush—I hope you’ll discover your own beauty slowly, at your own pace.
