When thinking of K-POP concerts, the first image that comes to mind is the dazzling sea of lights created as fans wave their lightsticks in unison. These lightsticks have transcended their original purpose as concert accessories to become powerful symbols of fandom identity and meaningful connections between artists and their supporters. The breathtaking waves of synchronized lights produced by thousands of lightsticks create magical moments for everyone in the venue, evolving into a cultural phenomenon in its own right.

The “Fansignal Lip Balm” cleverly reimagines this beloved item, transforming K-pop’s iconic lightstick into something practical for everyday life. Allow us to share the story behind the creation of the Fansignal Lip Balm.

Making Lightsticks Part of Daily Life

Lightstick designs are becoming increasingly detailed and unique, fully embodying each group’s universe and story. Now, lightsticks are expanding beyond tools used solely at concerts to become accessories that fans can incorporate into their daily lives. They’re being reinterpreted in various forms such as mini lightsticks, keyrings, and accessories, leading trends in fandom merchandise.

The ‘lightstick lip balm’ was born from this trend. It began with the question, “How can we transform the unique charm of lightsticks into practical items that bring us closer to fans?” Lip balm is a practical product that fans use daily, and when combined with the delicate details of lightsticks, it creates a distinctive and sensory impression.

The cap decoration of the Fansignal Lip Balm reflects signature elements from the original lightsticks. To create a handy-sized lip balm, we incorporated the most prominent features of lightsticks while minimizing other aspects. We also drilled a small hole at the bottom of the container to allow for string attachments, embracing the culture of customizing lightsticks. Additionally, the product includes colors that symbolize each group.

Visual Concept

The visual content of the Fansignal Lip Balm, which resembles lightsticks, shares the same universe as each artist. aespa’s lip balm (nicknamed “Sbongbalm”) uses mechanical elements to create a metallic feel, NCT’s lip balm (nicknamed “Meummwonbalm”) expresses the city nightscape using light afterimages, and Red Velvet’s lip balm (nicknamed “Gimmanbalm”) creates an elegant mood using ribbons with a balletcore theme.

An Emotional Experience Connecting Fandom and Daily Life

The Fansignal Lip Balm immediately gained positive responses from fans upon its release, establishing itself as an item that provides emotional satisfaction. For fans, the lip balm is more than just a lip care product—it’s a unique item that evokes the emotions felt at concerts and creates a sense of connection with their favorite artists. This fandom response was even featured in Careet’s “This Week’s Trend Item” series with the title “What’s all the buzz about this lightstick lip balm causing a sensation in K-pop fandom?”
