AMOREPACIFIC STORIES X yool_mooooo

Each month, AMOREPACIFIC STORIES collaborates with illustrators who are inspired by Korean beauty, visually expressing the ‘Create New Beauty’ that Amorepacific pursues.

#Theme

December brings the warm glow of streetlights spreading across the streets and crisp air that seems to hurry along the season’s first snowfall. This month, AMOREPACIFIC STORIES unfolds a winter tale with illustrator ‘yool_mooooo,’ an artist who brings to life warm fantasy worlds infused with a Korean aesthetic.

In yool_mooooo’s latest work, adorable animals enjoy the season in their own ways against the winter landscape of OSULLOC’s tea fields. The artist’s characteristically warm and gentle world permeates every corner of the OSULLOC tea fields—scenes of friends building snowmen and sharing tea over warm moments together. Why not journey with this artwork into winter’s vitality, Korean sensibility, and a cozy world of imagination? In those brief moments when you slow down and linger, you’ll feel the warmth of winter the artist has rendered.

#Artist

Hello, I’m illustrator yool_mooooo. Through imagination, I aim to offer an experience of stepping away from daily life and immersing yourself in new worlds. With that intention, I’ve built my own universe centered on animals living in Korean-style fantasy worlds, which I express through my illustrations.

#Artist Interview

Q. Could you introduce the artwork you created for AMOREPACIFIC STORIES?

This piece captures the animal friends from my universe visiting the tea fields of ‘OSULLOC,’ Amorepacific’s signature brand, to enjoy winter. OSULLOC’s dedication and heritage—from its beginnings in 1979 on Jeju Island where only stones and wind existed, to crafting the finest teas and continuing to shape tea culture today—gave me tremendous inspiration.

I felt the winter landscape of OSULLOC, with its rich history, would pair beautifully with my animal characters rooted in Korean elements, so I built the story around them. A key aspect of this work is how it harmoniously blends East and West, combining Christmas, which symbolizes December, with a distinctly Korean atmosphere.

Q. What message do you most want to convey through your work?

I create with the hope that people can step away from busy daily life, slip into a new world, and rest there even briefly. I want viewers to feel through my work that small moments of rest, even amid hectic days, are ultimately the most important moments for ‘ourselves.’

Q. What beauty do you hope viewers discover in your work?

I hope they imagine ‘Who would I be?’ in the alternate world within my illustrations. I think the beauty lies in taking time to consider what you’d look like in that world, what your own unique texture, rhythm, and direction might be. I hope viewers experience through my work those moments of contemplation where they look inward at themselves.

Q. What thoughts came to mind when you heard about Amorepacific’s ‘Create New Beauty’ philosophy?

In modern society, it’s easy to feel that ‘ourselves’ through others’ eyes matters more, but I deeply resonated with how Amorepacific encourages everyone to discover and create their own beauty. I also believe everyone can shine more brightly through the process of finding themselves in their own way.

Q. What does one’s own beauty mean to you?

I love French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre’s line: “Life is C (Choice) between B (Birth) and D (Death).” But I view that C not just as Choice, but as Course—the journey itself. For me, beauty true to myself is the entire process of contemplating what makes me happy when doing something and finding my way back to myself.

Q. Do you have any personal habits or principles for creating your own beauty in daily life?

When facing new experiences or everyday events, I ask myself before bed, ‘What would I have done?’ Looking inward through that process lets me see the gap between who I am now and who I want to become. I think the effort to close that gap is also part of the process of creating my own beauty.

Q. How does it feel to work with AMOREPACIFIC STORIES?

It’s an honor to share my universe through AMOREPACIFIC STORIES. I feel my work naturally aligns with Amorepacific’s philosophy, making this a meaningful collaboration.

Q. Finally, what would you say to those striving to discover their own beauty?

Everyone has their own pace. Please enjoy the process of finding what you love and what makes you happy. And I hope you discover beauty within that journey.
