AMORE STORIES X Seolzzi

Amore Stories introduces a new message and artwork each month, offering inspiration on the theme of ‘beauty.’

#Theme

One month of 2025 has already passed as I enter February. After navigating through the hectic start of the year, I sense that time will continue to flow swiftly in the months ahead. In this constant flow of time, the most crucial element in maintaining my center is knowing ‘myself’ with certainty. Taking time to contemplate who I am, what I love, and when I feel most authentic is essential for building the resilience needed to overcome life's challenging moments.
This month, Amore Stories features the work of artist Seolzzi, who participated in creating Amorepacific's 'New Beauty Ritual Kit' that embodies authentic beauty. As you discover the beauty woven into Seolzzi's work, embark on a journey to find your own authentic beauty and explore what beauty means to you.

Hello, I'm Seolzzi, an illustrator who participated in creating the Amorepacific New Beauty Ritual Book. I'm delighted to be part of this meaningful project about discovering authentic beauty!

I create artwork by adding my imagination to small but joy-bringing moments captured from daily life. When you see my work, I hope you can momentarily escape life's challenges and find yourself smiling.

#Artist Interview

Q. Is the yellow-haired girl who became the cover of Amorepacific's New Beauty Ritual Kit and Amore Stories’ Featured Image a representation of yourself?

Yes, that's right. I captured my most authentic moment, drawing while leaning on the sofa. I drew my favorite animals and palm trees around me, filling the empty spaces with grass swaying in the wind. I wanted to give viewers the most relaxing feeling possible through the artwork.

Q. Your work exudes warmth and comfort, perhaps because you've drawn things you love. Where do you primarily find inspiration before creating your work?

My biggest inspiration comes from good weather with warm sunlight. Good weather lifts our spirits without any particular reason. When viewing the world with a peaceful mind, we can observe the small things we usually pass by in detail. These experiences become valuable foundations for self-exploration and understanding. They become precious moments where I can understand myself, recognizing when I feel happy and in which moments I feel free.

Q. Then, when do you feel most beautiful?

I feel most beautiful when I'm with loved ones, sharing genuine, heartfelt laughter. I want to preserve my childlike, pure laughter for a long time. Even amid life's complexities and challenges, I find happiness when these childlike moments emerge.
I also find beauty in accepting and embracing myself as I am—understanding when I'm happiest, knowing what I love, and bringing myself joy. I believe my 'authentic beauty' lies in finding happiness in life's small, everyday moments and how I cherish myself.

Q. What is beauty in your perspective?

For me, beauty isn't simply about outward appearance. Instead, it's a word that conveys a sense of being more fully and abundantly filled from within. True beauty is filling ourselves with what we find essential, cherishing it, and positively developing it. I'd describe it in one sentence as 'understanding and accepting yourself exactly as you are.'

Q. Could you explain in more detail the beauty contained in your artwork?

In my work, I tried to express Amorepacific's vision of 'New Beauty (authentic beauty)' by incorporating artist Seolzzi's 'authentic beauty.' I captured my most comfortable moments in the drawing and added elements that bring me happiness and peace.
I find it difficult to work in a rigid desk setting. In search of a space where I can feel physically comfortable and freely generate ideas, I prefer working while leaning on a sofa. I drew what I consider my most beautiful self—drawing while resting comfortably on the couch, surrounded by my favorite palm trees and animals.
To capture my 'authentic beauty,' knowing exactly when I'm happiest, I expressed in drawings those small but meaningful experiences that give me strength: greeting and making eye contact with animals and enjoying sweet snacks with loved ones.
Creating this artwork gave me a grateful opportunity to deeply reflect on myself again.

Q. Lastly, could you share some words of encouragement for Amore Stories readers who haven't yet found their authentic beauty or are currently exploring that journey?

The terms 'New Beauty' and 'authentic beauty' might seem daunting at first, perhaps making you feel like you need to make a big commitment. I hope you can approach it with a lighter heart.
What makes me feel good when I see it? When do I laugh the most? As you continue thinking about these minor aspects of yourself, you'll naturally discover the authentic beauty only you possess. While the journey to finding your authentic beauty isn't always easy, at the end of that journey, you'll meet yourself having uncovered beauty by exploring your inner self!
Through artist Seolzzi's authentic beauty expressed in my work, I hope you all discover your genuine beauty.
