Mission for the 6th Pink Generation, Pink Art Group
The Pink Ribbon Campaign has brought a warm breeze to people's hearts over the past 15 years. Such has been the phenomenal impact of the campaign, that people now associate breast health awareness with a pink ribbon. The Pink Ribbon Campaign continues this year and at the center is the 6th Pink Generation. Pink Generation is a group of people appointed as ambassadors for the Pink Ribbon Campaign. The 6th Pink Generation began their work of spreading the meaning of the pink ribbon through special ideas. Below, we take a look at the first mission they were given.
Cheer for women living out beautiful and healthy lives
On a drizzly Saturday morning, young men and women gathered one by one in the Korea HQ of AMOREPACIFIC. They are the 6th Pink Generation. The Pink Generation has played a pivotal role in promoting the Pink Ribbon Campaign through various programs. Under the goal of spreading the breast health awareness message through ongoing engagement and communication with the public, members of Pink Generation work on several projects at both the group and individual levels. Indeed, the 6th Pink Generation engage in cultural programs around three central themes: Pink Music, which uses music to promote the campaign, Pink Art which uses art programs and Pink Messenger which delivers key messages.
"Members of the 6th Pink Generation will serve as ambassadors for the Pink Ribbon Campaign, as well as contents creators taking part in contents production with the help of mentors. This is the first meeting of the Pink Art Group."
Ahn Tae-min from AMOREPACIFIC CSV (Creating Shared Value) Team gave a brief presentation of new missions given to the Pink Generation this year. Their first mission was to make a Pink Ribbon donation bracelet. Mentors for this mission were creators from the first-generation handmade bracelet brand MOREE. Members of the Pink Generation mapped out their plan as to how they should complete the mission, with input and advice from mentors. MOREE Design Team manager Choi Chang-nam was also on hand to serve as a mentor and shared the key principles to keep in mind: heart to heart.
"It seems that working with pure-hearted young people creates greater energy. The message we'd like to share through this bracelet is healing with love. I hope that members put their love and wish for a fast recovery by breast cancer patients into each bracelet they make, and that patents can get energy through this bracelet."
Members of the 6th Pink Generation, the Pink Art Group sat in groups and received a bracelet-making kit. The meeting today was designed to help them learn how to make donation bracelets and share 15 DIY kits with their friends as part of the Pink Ribbon Campaign promotion.
A heartfelt prayer for wishes to come true
The bracelet is not a mere accessory. It is a medium to deliver heartfelt support to breast cancer patients through every single knot.
"I learned about the Pink Generation when I first took part in the Pink Ribbon Love Marathon and applied to be part of the Pink Art Group, as my major is art. Most people in their 20s think that breast cancer is something that doesn't concern them. What I learned through the Pink Ribbon Campaign was that breast health is something that both men and women of all ages should care about, no matter what age they are."
Kim Seul-ho, member of the 6th Pink Generation, revealed the reasons for his participation in the Pink Ribbon Campaign. Perhaps it's the idea that their bracelet could give support to others that members of the Pink Generation put their hearts into tying knots. Poor skill is never a problem. Their sincere effort always resulted in beautiful bracelets with nothing lacking.
"It's easier and more interesting than I thought. Plus, the result seems worth so much more than the time and effort we put in. It will have a great PR impact as it can be worn every day."
Kang Min-hye, member of the 6th Pink Generation, received compliments throughout the course and rightly so, given the high quality of her finished work. But her mission for today was not over. It was her work to make objects which will be installed for the Pink Ribbon Love Marathon. After thoroughly learning the string art technique using colorful strings, members of the Pink Generation packed required materials and expressed their strong will to accomplish their mission. The 6th Pink Generation will share the message of the Pink Ribbon with total sincerity. We hope that the love they tied into the Pink Ribbon knots can help to heal patients.
