On Friday, April 12, Amorepacific Hong Kong kicked off its third year-round “Makeup Your Life” program which is one of Amorepacific’s flagship CSR events at Amorepacific Hong Kong L&D Center in Causeway Bay.
Through this biggest-scale-ever Makeup Your Life, Amorepacific Hong Kong targets to provide eight workshops and support 160 female cancer patients in April, July, and September this year, in partnership with the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance and Hong Kong Hereditary Breast Cancer Family Registry. 148 members of Amorepacific Hong Kong enrolled to provide helping hands over the events this year.
During the first two sessions, 40 female cancer patients who are in the rehabilitation and treatment stages or within two years of treatment completion, participated in the event. Through this session, they learnt through demonstrations and practical hands-on exercises on how to perform their own makeovers. Two of Amorepacific Hong Kong beauty trainers and 33 volunteers gave hands to support participants as well as to share useful skincare and makeup tips and techniques.
Besides affirming patients’ beauty and helping them regain their confidence, “Makeup Your Life” offered participants the precious opportunity to enjoy a healing break from their illness and release the stresses of treatment with a day of fun, laughter and relaxation.
Amorepacific Hong Kong is committed to actively giving back to the local community as part of the Group’s vision of creating “A MORE Beautiful World.” Amorepacific Hong Kong recognized the importance of the work being done by the Global Chinese Breast Cancer Organizations Alliance (GCBCOA), the only organization that unites all Chinese breast cancer organizations worldwide, to support cancer patients and provide education. As of April 2018, they have more than 50 member organizations from different regions, including Beijing, Hong Kong, Macau, Shanghai, Xian, Guangzhou, Taipei, Taichung, U.S.A., Singapore, Malaysia and Indonesia. Through exchange and sharing, they strive to find the best treat and care methods for Chinese breast cancer patients.
The NGO also established the Pink Angel Chemotherapy Service in Hong Kong in April 2017. The free service is initiated by the GCBCOA and is carried out by a zealous team of trained volunteer survivors. The service aims to serve Hong Kong breast cancer patients to lessen their anxieties and suffering during chemotherapy treatment, and offers free escort, companionship and peer support to patients during their difficult treatment.
In addition to working with the Alliance to bring “Makeup Your Life” to Hong Kong, Amorepacific Hong Kong has successfully liaised with the Easyknit Group, a local developer, to offer the NGO appropriate and adequate office premise at a special charitable rate of HKD1 per month. Amorepacific Hong Kong has also outfitted the premise at Cheung Sha Wan with office fixtures and furniture, to support the Alliance’s efforts in promoting breast health education and providing cancer patient support. The GCBCOA Office was officially opened on 21 March 2019.
Amorepacific Hong Kong’s journey in ‘Makeup Your Life’ program to create the world A MORE Beautiful World continues. We ask for the continued support and interest from our fellow members of Amorepacific.
