The omni-channel approach is spreading fast across the vast nation of China, home to 1.3 billion people. The omni-channel approach involves organically connecting online and offline shopping channels to ensure consistent quality of service in every corner of the country. The key to success is having an advanced logistics system capable of receiving and handling orders in real time through different channels.

Logistics Division of Amorepacific China (APC) located in Shanghai Beauty Campus is the place where products of Amorepacific are dispatched in their best condition to customers across China.

Shanghai Beauty Campus

Shanghai Beauty Campus, the production, research and logistics hub of China, opened in October 2014. Every product of Amorepacific Group, including products of Mamonde, ETUDE HOUSE and innisfree produced/distributed within China and products of Sulwhasoo, LANEIGE, IOPE, HERA and Ryo imported from Korea, is delivered via the Shanghai Beauty Campus. By working with distribution centers in Chengdu and Beijing, the Logistics Division picks and delivers products across China.

The Logistics Division recently opened a new distribution center in Beijing, China to streamline the management of its distribution network. It closed down the existing distribution center in Shenyang and opened a new center in Beijing. Cha Jeong-hak, who is in charge of the distribution centers, remarked that "CDC (Central Distribution Center) located in Shanghai Beauty Campus manages distribution right across China. Plus, there are two RDCs (Regional Distribution Centers) in Chengdu and Beijing, covering the southwestern and northwestern regions, along with the northeastern, northern and eastern regions of China, respectively. As the RDCs provide extensive delivery coverage, it is important to efficiently operate and manage each one well". APC has successfully been able to reduce the lead time of delivering products to northeastern, northern and eastern regions to just two days and can even manage overnight delivery to Beijing with the opening of the Beijing Distribution Center.

"China's total land area is about 44 times larger than Korea's, meaning it requires a specialized, fully customized logistics system. Though systems and working environment were poor when we first stepped into China, we did our best to develop new standards and routes in light of China's unique geographic challenges."

Delivering products across China is not easy; even for Cha Jeong-hak, who has experience managing the Osan Logistic Center in Osan Beauty Campus in Korea. He said that building a network and standardized system was very difficult, akin to making something out of nothing. He now sees his role as taking both the distribution network and system to the next level by combining two distribution centers for unified delivery routes across China.

# Prompt response to keep pace with sales growth

The Logistics Division moved to Shanghai Beauty Campus a few months before its completion in 2014 and began work to check the stock and delivery routes so that all the products could be delivered error-free to the desired destinations from Shanghai Beauty Campus. The Logistics Division is currently working on the development of new routes and phases in the automated systems to meet market demands and keep pace with the growth of APC.

Though the environment is different, their job is the same as colleagues working in the domestic distribution centers – delivering products on time and in the best condition. They strive to improve customer satisfaction with expedited delivery, while developing innovative products and working hard to increase sales. The Logistics Division of APC will now examine customer satisfaction with product delivery service by reviewing whether products have been delivered on time and extent of any product defects. They will listen to the voice of customers in order to improve the service.
