A pop-up store was meticulously designed as part of the LABO-H X Chilsung Cider collaboration project. The common themes of the LABO-H Cider Cooling Shampoo and Chilsung Cider – BUBBLE, GREEN, COOL – were seamlessly woven into the store’s design. An immersive auditory experience awaited customers through strategically played ASMR sounds throughout the store, emphasizing a refreshing sensation and ensuring a distinguished experience.

BUBBLE, GREEN, COOL + ASMR

The alliance between LABO-H and Chilsung Cider was elucidated through instagrammable spaces that resonated with the shared attributes of bubble, green, and cool. A grand photo zone at the entrance and reception paved the way to the main pop-up space where the LABO-H Cider Cooling Shampoo’s cooling effect of -9°C was vividly showcased. The store's goods shop also embraced a consistent theme by featuring Chilsung Cider refrigerators and vending machines, embodying the refreshing concept.

Reception

Bubble Wall Photo Zone

Upon entering the pop-up store, visitors are first greeted by an outdoor soap bubble photo zone. As they proceed to the reception, they encounter a large "bubble wall" photo zone crafted with the shampoo package design as its motif.

This bubble wall, rising to a height of two meters, is constructed to create an illusion that one has stepped inside a bottle of soda. It was inspired by childhood memories of watching bubbles in a home aquarium. The installation offers a chance to experience those bubbles visually. As visitors pose as if immersed within a bottle brimming with carbonic acid, they can capture photographs and simultaneously gain an initial appreciation for the refreshing benefits of the LABO-H collaboration products, evocative of a chilled soda.

Labo-H Lab

The main pop-up space, named the Labo-H Lab, is an embodiment of LABO-H's brand identity. This space allows customers to interact with the products directly. Drawing inspiration from a laboratory, the tabletops, adorned with experimental instruments from the Amorepacific R&I Center and LABO-H products, vividly convey LABO-H's technical prowess and expertise. To accommodate Amore Seongsu's distinctive spatial arrangement, e.g. multiple pop-up spaces are distributed throughout the store, with a predominant green color scheme, making it easy for visitors to identify and navigate.

Main Pop-Up Space for Product Experience and Capsule Machine Event

On the main pop-up area tables, a box brimming with clear ice emitted smoke from dry ice, visually enhancing the product's cooling sensation. This theatrical smoke effect was perfected after several trials using various apparatuses, including fog machines, dry ice machines, and mist generators.

Furthermore, fragrance flasks imbued with shampoo scents and funnels for olfactory testing were available to address the inherent limitation of not being able to try a shampoo before purchasing. Microscopes to observe the bubbly texture of the shampoo were also set up, upholding the ‘Lab’ concept while allowing an indirect product experience.

Besides the opportunity to experience the shampoo's fragrance,
there's a table that lets visitors observe the bubbly texture of the product through a microscope.

Goods Shop

The final section of the pop-up store is the Goods Shop. Here, collaboration merchandise such as PVC beach bags, towels, and shampoo brushes are available for purchase. This space showcases the collaboration products and sodas inside actual beverage vending machines and refrigerators borrowed from Lotte Chilsung. By blocking external light and highlighting only the fridge and vending machine illumination, the display has been crafted to draw greater attention to the products.

Collaboration Merchandise Sales Area

Upon exiting the Goods Shop, visitors are treated to a refreshing soda from an outdoor beverage truck. The beverage truck, adorned with Chilsung Cider's green parasol and a large carbon acid graphic banner on the building's outer wall, mirrors the refreshing design elements of the pop-up store, capturing the attention of office workers and visitors in the Seongsu area.

Making its debut at Amore Seongsu, the LABO-H X Chilsung Cider pop-up store witnessed an average daily footfall of 710 visitors, amounting to 8,520—a record-setting number for any pop-up store at this location. Subsequently, the pop-up was featured at Olive Young in Gangnam and Amore Yongsan in June, and then at Amore Busan in July.

The pop-up store at Gangnam's Olive Young, which ran for the entire month of June, was on the third floor. However, despite its upper-level location, it boasted the highest visitor count compared to other pop-up stores operating across the first three floors during the same period. It even became a must-visit pop-up store for Olive Young's MD. Most heartening was the publication of over 60 organic blog posts filled with positive reviews from visitors of the pop-up store.

The LABO-H X Chilsung Cider collaboration was a long-term project with palpable synergy between the collaborating departments. Through this pop-up space, we hope the LABO-H brand becomes more familiar and endeared to a broader audience.
