A life of giving and sharing all starts with a small action. Skills are not required: as long as you have a warm heart, you can offer a t-shirt of your own design to children in developing countries suffering from low body temperature and hygiene problems caused by inadequate clothing. Members of Amorepacific Korean HQ realized the value of sharing through the t-shirt painting campaign hosted by an international relief and development organization named The Promise.
A message of hope for children in developing countries
One day before the heat wave began, 100 members of Amorepacific took part in a t-shirt painting campaign hosted by The Promise, an international relief and development organization that advocates equal opportunities without prejudice against different religions, ethnicities, cultures and political views. They give people meaningful opportunities to take part in making goods to help spread the joy of giving and sharing.
Members of Amorepacific were asked to decorate a t-shirt for children in developing countries suffering with difficulties regulating their body temperature brought on by inadequate clothing. For this campaign, Amorepacific prepared 100 t-shirts with its logo printed on each. Before it began, a short video was screened of children who were given t-shirts, bags, shorts and books. The innocent smiles of children filled the screen, helping the participants understand the value of the donation.
"It's not about skill, it's about putting your heart and soul into each and every t-shirt. It will be an invaluable gift to children. In fact, it's more than just a t-shirt, it's a gift from the heart."
After team leader Jo Joori had explained about the campaign on behalf of The Promise, Amorepacific members began to paint t-shirts. They put some cardboard under each t-shirt and used fabric crayons to add colors to symbolize bright colors full of hope for the children. While imagining who would wear them and whether the children would like the colors, the sound of joyous laughter rose from members.
T-shirts full of the joy of sharing
Each member carefully painted, ironed and completed the perfect t-shirt that doesn't shrink after washing. Some even added unique patterns with rhinestones.
"Pictures of children remind me of my daughter at home. It has been quite a long time since I painted something and, though my ironing skills are not good, it feels great to be part of this good campaign. I will do it again with my daughter who loves painting," said Seo Wonjun from IT Project Management Team with sweat running down in beads. These t-shirts will go through rigorous quality testing and then be delivered to children in need of help living in developing countries, like Nepal, India and East Timor.
"Thinking of children who will wear these t-shirts makes me happy, even though I don't know them personally and can't meet them. I hope it will help the children who, though living a long way away, share the same world and time."
Cho Woohyun from Global Travel Retail TM Team and his team members sent regards to children on the other side of the world who will be handed the t-shirts they made.
Beautiful t-shirts made today by members of Amorepacific will be delivered to children in need of help. Whenever they wear t-shirts, they will remember that there are people on the other side of the world who care about them. We sincerely hope that our sharing will lead to greater good and offer hope to children in developing countries.
