AMOREPACIFIC has a special bond with the isle of life – Jeju Island, where beautiful dedication and the spirit of the founder Suh Sung-whan abound – and, reflecting this bond, it participated in the Center for Creative Economy and Innovation project organized by the Korean Ministry of Science, ICT and Future Planning to pave the way for sustainable shared growth.
AMOREPACIFIC introduced the establishment and operation of the 2nd Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation at the inauguration ceremony for the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation held on Friday, June 26 on Jeju Island, Korea with around 150 guests. At the K-Beauty Zone organized at the venue, innisfree Marketing Division Koo Ae-ran provided attendees with a lucid explanation of how the Center for Innovation will be run.
The Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation purports to make Jeju Island a good place to live in, see and work through the creation of culture, smart tourism and the development of renewable energy. Starting with the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, which will be built in Jeju TP (Techno Park) Bio Convergence Center in September, AMOREPACIFIC will seek out more ways to grow together with the local community through investment of over KRW 100 billion. A branch institute of the Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation specializing in cosmetics industry, the 2nd Jeju Center for Creative Economy and Innovation will not only support the research, development and growth of the cosmetics industry in Jeju Island, but also take the lead in promoting a so-called “sextic industry” – a combination of the agriculture industry and the manufacturing and service industries, making full use of high-end tourism contents combining K-beauty, culture and experience.
In addition, AMOREPACIFIC will build a green tea production base and ingredient-specific tourist villages and establish a fund worth KRW 10 billion for innisfree Foundation to preserve the ecology of Jeju Island and promote local cultural contents, while also investing KRW 30 billion into a Shared Growth Fund for the Creative Economy of Jeju Island, as part of the program for shared growth with the local community.
Since 1979, when the founder Suh Sung-whan (pen name Jangwon) began reclaiming wasteland in Dosun, southwest of Mt. Halla on Jeju Island, AMOREPACIFIC has maintained a special bond with Jeju. We'd like to ask for your continued support and interest in AMOREPACIFIC in seeking a beautiful relationship with Jeju Island.
