- Development of AI-based skin diagnosis system 'Dr.AMORE®,' assessing age-related changes in the skin of Korean women across various age groups
Amorepacific has announced the results of its research on the development, performance, and potential applications of its Artificial Intelligence (AI)-based skin diagnosis system, 'Dr.AMORE®.' The related paper was published on December 12 in the SCI-rated international journal 'International Journal of Cosmetic Science' (Paper Title: Development and application of artificial intelligence-based facial skin image diagnosis system: Changes in facial skin characteristics with aging in Korean women).
'Dr.AMORE®' is an AI-based diagnostic system developed through deep learning of clinical experts' evaluations using Korean women's skin images. Using photographs alone, it conveniently diagnoses primary skin concerns such as wrinkles, pigmentation, pores, and red spots. The analysis results using 'Dr.AMORE' have shown a high correlation with the visual evaluations of skin clinical experts. This research substantiates that Amorepacific's AI diagnostic system can provide precise skin diagnoses.
Through research utilizing 'Dr.AMORE,' Amorepacific's R&I Center has also identified skin aging trends among Korean women. Analyzing facial images of 120 Korean women aged from their teens to sixties revealed that the most significant changes in skin characteristics occur between the twenties and thirties. The research discovered significant changes in skin wrinkles and pigmentation during this period, and a marked increase in pores was observed between the teens and twenties.
Byungfhy Suh, Head of Amorepacific's R&I Center, stated, "The AI-based skin image diagnostic system can provide skin condition diagnoses based on clinical expert judgment using just photographs. This allows for quantitative and visual analysis of detailed skin characteristics, offering a new and useful approach to skin research fields like aging that require big data analysis." He added, "Amorepacific will continue its efforts to provide highly personalized beauty services to customers worldwide through advanced research, including 'Dr.AMORE.'"
Meanwhile, Amorepacific is applying the 'Dr.AMORE' skin diagnostic system technology to customer services, such as the ‘LANEIGE Beauty Curator,' and plans to expand customer engagement further through more accurate and personalized skin diagnostics.
