How many relationships are more special than a mother and daughter? They are life partners who understand and comfort each other better than any other. This also applies to Ha Sungja, mother, and Ahn Nayoon, daughter, who are taking the same path in their career as counselors. Having the same job with same enthusiasm – cosmetics, they are trusted colleagues and helpers for each other. Throughout the interview, they showed pride and gratefulness in their faces while looking at each other.

Ha Sungja is a 10-year experienced counselor, and Ahn Nayoon is a 3-year experienced one, and together, they are a mother and daughter who take care of each other. It is not usual for family members to have the same job but the tie between cosmetics, and mother and daughter, is never a coincidence.

"My mother quit her door-to-door sales job when she fell pregnant with me. Later, she opened a cosmetics store and ran it for 19 years. That's why I am very familiar with cosmetics. It is no exaggeration to say that cosmetics have always been a part of my life."

After studying food and nutrition at university, Ahn became a makeup artist. When she came to learn about the counseling job, she thought that the job was a good opportunity to guarantee a reliable future and use her abilities to the fullest. As she had studied food and nutrition, and also had expertise as a makeup artist, she thought handling both health functional food and cosmetics was the right job for her.

"I began to work as a counselor to help my family. I had planned to do this job for only 3 years at first, but the time has passed so fast. I couldn't have come this far without my customers who trusted me and purchased the products I recommended without any doubts. I won't say I am the best salesperson, but I have worked harder than anyone else. Plus, the best thing about this counseling job is that if you sincerely do your best, you will get the result you deserve." From the voice of mother Ha Sungja, you can feel how proud she is of her job as a counselor. To Ahn Nayoon, her mother is a guide who shows the direction in which she should go in the future.

"I really want to learn faithfulness from her. She felt afraid when she started her job as a counselor, but with her faith, she was able to constantly get results her customers became regulars. The trusted relationship with her regular customers that she has built over many years is a goal which I want to achieve as a counselor to get the hang of this job even though I've only just begun."

Unlike her mother who has a well-established human network, Ahn moved to Pohang when she started this line of work and had to build up her own network from nothing. She visited stores, hospitals and public agencies on scheduled days of the week to meet people. Determined to visit a place at least five times, she gradually made results. At first, she only exchanged greetings and then made prospective customers get acquainted with her on the next couple of visits. Eventually, she began to promote her products on later visits.

"Everybody already knows Amorepacific products are of the best quality. I believed that as a cosmetics seller, I was responsible for providing my customers with the best services as well as products. I made efforts to study the tastes of my customers and approach them first."

Being dexterous, Ahn has satisfied her customers with her unique services ranging from hand-written letters and elaborate packing to makeup and nail art services. She offers counseling on skin and becomes a good companion to talk with while providing nail art and other services which only she can provide.

The mother and daughter say counseling is not simply to sell products. A counselor is a person who consults customers to understand their concerns and suggests what they need. The mother and daughter are proud of and feel responsible for their job.

Their family are their best supporters who encourage the mother and daughter as they travel along the same path.

"Recently my husband read a newspaper article about Amorepacific and said he felt great that his wife and daughter worked for such a nice company. I was very happy that he said so."

As they don't want to burden each other with their behavior, they strive to behave nice when they meet their colleagues and customers. This is because they think even their small actions or words could affect each other. This "good" tension has influenced them to become better counselors.

"As Nayoon has solid expertise in makeup, she lectures for various training classes in the office. When I see her lecture confidently in front of many people, I feel prouder and more pleased than when I do a good job. I sincerely expect and support a bright future for my daughter who is doing a great job even in the areas which I could not give a shot at as a counselor."

Ahn who is exerting herself in various activities as a makeup lecturer is the pride of her mother, Ha Sungja. Based on the support from her mother, Ahn plans to realize a bigger dream.

"Whenever I meet those who attend my class to become professional makeup lecturers like me, I feel a sense of responsibility while at the same time, they also make me stronger. I feel the happiest when I grow together with my students while sharing what I have with them."

The mother and daughter don't crack under pressure as they are together. They say that while talking about what they have experienced in the field, they can understand each other without having to explain specifically.

As they resemble each other very much inside, the mother and daughter can understand and take care of each other better than anyone else.

Ha Sungja and Ahn Nayoon are close friends rather than mother and daughter. The journey of the mother and daughter will go on: they will take care of and develop themselves more while delivering beauty to more people.
