- On the 15th at Yongsan Amorepacific Museum of Art, explore the vast world of conceptual art through the lecture of Professor Woo Jeong-Ah

Amorepacific Museum of Art is organizing a ‘Gallery Talk’ for those wishing to better understand the artistic world of Lawrence Weiner and conceptual art.

Scheduled for the 15th of this month taking place at Yongsan Amorepacific Museum of Art in Seoul, this gallery talk is centered around a lecture by Professor Woo Jeong-Ah at the Humanities and Social Sciences department at POSTECH. Those interested in participating can apply on a first-come, first-served basis through the official Amorepacfic Museum of Art website.

Professor Woo will be discussing the emergence of conceptual art and minimalism, along with recognized artists such as Carl Andre, On Kawara, Dan Flavin, Joseph Kosuth, and Sol LeWitt who have mutually influenced each other. Building upon the background, the focus will be on examining Lawrence Weiner’s role and contribution to these art historical trends, delving deeply into his philosophy and artistic world. This lecture is expected to provide a valuable opportunity in broadening the understanding of conceptual art overall, and to deeply comprehend Lawrence Weiner’s ‘Language Sculpture’ works and his artistic world.

The large-scale retrospective exhibition since the passing of Lawrence Weiner in 2021, and his first solo exhibition in Asia, 'LAWRENCE WEINER: UNDER THE SUN,' will end on the 28th.

Meanwhile Amorepacific Museum of Art plans to present diverse exhibitions in 2024. Firstly, in March, the first domestic solo exhibition of ‘Steve Harrington’, an artist and designer based in Los Angeles will take place. Following that, in September, an exhibition by the globally renowned artist duo ‘Elmgreen & Dragset’ based in Berlin, will unfold.
