GREENCYCLE Campaign Features Empty Bottle Trees

HQ is showcasing large empty-bottle tree sculptures at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Seoul from December 10 to January 31, as a part of the GREENCYCLE Campaign, its signature eco-friendly corporate social responsibility initiative.

The empty-bottle tree sculptures are made from more than 1,500 empty bottles of Amorepacific Group cosmetics, including Sulwhasoo, LANEIGE, Mamonde, innisfree and ETUDE HOUSE. The 4 to 6m-tall illuminated tree is expected to catch visitors’ eyes with its unique artistry.

As part of the display, there is a special payback event that offers visitors discounted tickets to current exhibitions at DDP if a customer returns an empty bottle of Amorepacific Group brands at the ticket booth (excluding color makeup, cleansing, hair, body and travel-size products). In addition, a customer who posts a photo of the empty-bottle trees on the website of Amorepacific Corporate Social Responsibility will automatically enter a raffle draw for a chance to win Amorepacific cosmetic products.

One of the trees will be completed with the citizens’ participation utilizing the empty bottles submitted to DDP exhibition. On December 23–25, there will be “DDP Oh! Christmas” event for people to enjoy the Upcycle Design Exhibition of “DDP Winter Festa” and a special Christmas Concert.

GREENCYCLE Campaign encompasses a range of corporate social responsibility initiatives run by Amorepacific Korea Headquarters, including the upcycling and recycling of empty cosmetics bottles. Since 2009, Amorepacific has collected about 1,200 tons of empty bottles, which represents 1,500 tons of CO2 emission reduction, or the same as planting some 13,000 pine trees. Furthermore, Amorepacific’s GREENCYCLE Campaign convened various eco-friendly events, including art exhibitions using empty cosmetic bottles, a hands-on program for young people to get involved, jump rope production using recycled bottles and an art showcase at Deoksugung Palace Stone-wall Road during the Seoul Street Art Festival. Going forward, Amorepacific will make the campaign more accessible to the general public in Korea to enable greater public engagement. We hope the GREENCYCLE campaign can be expanded to more countries soon as it truly represents Amorepacific’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
