Edition No.2 Beauty Campus Shanghai, growing with the values of meaning and fun.
The Production Division, which has around 270 members of staff, is comprised of a total of seven teams – the directly involved teams such as Production 1 Team, Production 2 Team, QA Team and the indirectly involved teams such as Innovation Team, Support Team, Purchasing Team and Development & Purchasing Team. We cannot be but curious to find out how members communicate and engage with one another as the Production Division is led by members of diverse teams. They say the secret is the active club activities within the division. Members share hobbies, enjoy and engage in interaction through different club activities including photography, cuisine, knitting, football, and table tennis. In addition, the Production Division runs reward programs such as the 'Outstanding Employee Award ' and 'Best Proposal Award ', and its own programs like the 'Committee on Cafeteria Food Quality Improvement '. Through these active proposals and improvement measures, members take part in and collaborate to create a more fun workplace.
Taking Part in Fruitful and Fun Activities
Members of the Production Division also spend meaningful time at their special 'Happy Plus' activities. One main example of the Happy Plus is the 'Environmental Protection Carnival ', which is a fun and enjoyable program where members share information on environmental activities and reduce work-related stress at the same time, making it one of the favorites among members. Participants say that the program has been a valuable opportunity for them to interact with each other through various games on recycling and feel proud about the corporate culture. The Production Division also has a diverse range of programs, even including 'making handmade scented sachets' to make the workplace not simply a place of work, but a place to reaffirm the values of meaning and fun.
A total of some 50 researchers work at the Research Division in Product Research Team, Safety & Technology Research Team, Customer Research Team and Technology Regulations Team . Most of the members were born in the 1980s or the 1990s and are called '90 hòu, 80 hòu (90后,80后)', which means 'China's new generation'. The defining features of China's new generation of being free and curious are reflected in the culture of the Research Division. The members, especially, are very much researchers seeking knowledge and wanting to learn about anything new. One example of the activities that reflects the personality of the members is the 'New Product Idea Proposal ', where different team members interact. Members from different teams come together to conduct market survey and take part in external workshops. In addition, the Research Division, which values work-life balance, introduced flexible working hours to improve the quality of life of its members and create a corporate culture where everyone can enjoy working.
Communicating and Sharing Closely
The members of the Research Division have time to communicate and interact through various team-building activities. The most notable part in the division's team-building activities is that decisions are made based on the members' active discussion and votes when it comes to planning or discussing the team-building activities. Members voluntarily discuss the activities and actively take part in them through WeChat, the main channel of communication among Chinese young generation. Such active communication is what drives more planning and participation in various and new activities. Participants told us that the 'Fun Field Day ' that was held during the first half of this year as a team-building activity, where some 50 members split into different teams to play various group sports, was an opportunity to build teamwork based on the values of trust and collaboration by working towards various missions given. The Research Division plans to carry out more diverse and various team-building activities based on members' active participation.
The Logistics Division has a total of 43 members across three teams of Forwarding Team, Logistics Operations Team and Sales Support Team and one Innovation Office . The Logistics Division, especially, is a warm and close group of people where members take care of each other's family occasions, big or small, consoling and encouraging each other. The division has members working in Beijing, Shenyang, Chengdu and Shenzhen in addition to Shanghai. So, there are some limitations to bringing all members together. The division, therefore, conducts a workshop linked to the company's program twice a year to provide an opportunity for all members to come together to interact and communicate.
Sharing the Value of Warmth
The Logistics Division creates opportunities that allow members to interact closely through team-building activities, annual events and programs, and small-scale activities of each team. These various activities include the 'Flea Market Program' where members can take part in environmental protection activities and interact with each other, the 'Smart Working Project' where relevant stakeholders interact and attend exhibitions, and the 'Flag of Honor Project' where members share achievements, select 'Best Employee' and encourage one another. The activities enable members to share their warm hearts and engage in active communication and collaboration.
The Production, Research and Logistics Divisions at Beauty Campus Shanghai continue to develop and grow based on ceaseless collaboration among members of each division as well as with Beauty Campuses in Korea and worldwide. The Production Division regularly holds 'Manufacturing Technology Exchange Meetings ' together with Beauty Campus Osan to identify and improve issues in Korea and China. In 2019, it plans to further strengthen collaboration on LCC as part of the Columbus Project implemented by the SCM Development & Purchasing Division.
Because the Research Division has to communicate in the Chinese way according to the needs of Chinese customers and the government, it is actively engaged in collaboration with Production Team, APC CPR Team, and each brand. Examples include reassessment of the measures and responses of the headquarters in Korea with localized technology or reframing them into technical materials that can be acceptable to Chinese consumers or governmental agencies to provide to China CPR Team in order to respond to issues. With regards to localized technologies, the division compares and assesses the company's testing methods against China's national regulation on testing method (Hygienic Standard for Cosmetics, National Standard Testing Method, and others) in collaboration with the QA Team of the Production Division to create testing methods optimized to local operation.
The Logistics Division, in active collaboration with the Production Division, converted the Production Division's outstanding quality management capabilities into a process applied to quality management of imported goods. And because system development accounts for a big part of the Logistics Division due to the nature of its role, it closely communicates with and conducts joint projects with the IT Division for system design, modification and improvement. This partnership led to amazing achievements such as the Logistics Division together with the BIS Division establishing a new warehouse and improving efficiency through developing logistics customs clearance system and operations system.
The Production, Research and Logistics Divisions of Beauty Campus Shanghai also continue to pursue active communication and engagement with the local community. Members and their families take part in the women's health marathon, Moripao(茉莉跑) Marathon, held every year by Amorepacific China. They also are involved in blood donation activities in cooperation with National Health Commission of the People's Republic of China, realizing the value of sharing. In addition, each division continues to foster a venue for exchange and collaboration to grow together with the local community, such as the Production Division's purchasing of local indigenous products, the Research Division's scholarship program based on industry-university-research institute partnership, and the Logistics Division's involvement in various environmental protection activities.
