Edition No. 6 Discovery of New Green Tea through Our Beautiful Dedication
OSULLOC celebrated its 40th anniversary last year. It was Amorepacific's dedication and devotion that enabled a green tea brand to sustain for a long time in Korea, a country that did not have its own unique tea culture. Amorepacific founder Suh Sung-whan, who enjoyed green tea, pursued to restore our own unique tea culture that continued since the Silla dynasty. It would have been impossible for the barren lands of Jeju to transform into lands of green and be reborn as the beautiful Dosun, Seogwang, and Hannam Tea Gardens today without a determined sense of calling.
To us, green tea is not merely a product, but a culture. Starting from the opening of Pacific Museum of Tea Culture in 1981 and the first issue of Weekly Tea News in the same year to the publication of Pacific Sulloc Tea in 1983, opening of the O'sulloc Tea Museum in 2001 and Osulloc Teastone in 2013 – we have continued to strive to expand the foundation for green tea culture to grow.
Furthermore, Amorepacific pursued research in multifaceted aspects not limited to using tea leaves to brew tea. In 1989, Amorepacific launched the world's first-ever green tea cosmetics Meero and continues to use green tea as its heritage ingredient to this day. In 2010, we identified new probiotics from green tea leaves. Our researchers found that the probiotics from tea plants located near the sea were significantly stronger than other probiotics, which led to the development of the world's first-ever green tea-derived probiotics. And we were able to offer it to customers through VITAL BEAUTIE Greentea Probiotics.
Our passion towards green tea, which began 40 years ago from the southwest mountainside of Hallasan Mountain in Jeju, seeped deeply into our lives. Our effort and research of a long time bore fruit over several decades, delivering new discoveries of green tea that were not found elsewhere to our customers.
