- 1,332 collected cosmetic empty bottles illuminated with LEDs, creating a vision of hope through new value creation
The Amorepacific Foundation (Chairman Kyungbae Suh) is exhibiting a Christmas tree made from cosmetic empty bottles titled 'Light of Hope 1332.'
In celebration of its 50th anniversary, the Foundation planned this exhibition as a public art project in collaboration with the Sejong Center. The exhibit will begin with a lighting ceremony at 6 PM on December 15 and will continue until January 2 next year. It will be located in Sejong Terrace, the outdoor space above the central staircase of the Sejong Center.
This gigantic 8.3-meter-tall tree is made from 1,332 collected cosmetic empty bottles and illuminated with Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs), symbolizing the creation of new value and hope. It is designed as an interactive media art piece, drawing attention by lighting up when it detects the motion of the audience joining hands. The tree's creation involved the 'Creative Computing Group (Artist Baekshin Sung, Professor Ju-sub Kim).' Both artists expressed their desire through this exhibition, saying, "We hope that every visitor participating in the exhibition finds their light and illuminates new hope."
Sangho Lee, the Secretary-General of the Amorepacific Foundation, stated, "With this exhibition, the Amorepacific Foundation plans to actively support various fields of culture and arts actively, stepping forward as a cultural foundation cherished by citizens and the public."
Meanwhile, the Amorepacific Foundation, established in 1973, has been dedicated to discovering outstanding research in various fields and engaging with the public for the past 50 years, following the wishes of the late Chairman Sungwhan Suh, the founder of Amorepacific.
