Through this program, the company has discovered plant ingredients cultivated through environmentally friendly methods, and sought for shared growth with local communities that cultivate such ingredients. By doing so, Amorepacific proves its commitment to becoming a company that goes far together rather than a company that goes fast alone, and also pursues a world of beauty where nature, people and businesses co-exist in harmony.

Where are the products we use from? A new culture of consumption is on the rise as a growing number of consumers have developed an interest in ethical consumption, which refers to the choosing of a product after having first checked out everything about the product ranging from the cultivation of ingredients to the manufacturing process, distribution and even to the philosophy of the manufacturer. Since 2010, Amorepacific has also implemented and expanded its Beautiful Fair Trade program, which is designed to secure safe ingredients and produce products based on harmony with local communities. As part of Amorepacific's commitment to sustainable product development, Beautiful Fair Trade is aimed at contributing to the environment and society by sticking to three principles: Shared Growth, Ingredient Safety and Protection of the Ecosystem in the process of choosing and purchasing ingredients.

More specifically, the first principle, "Shared Growth with Local Communities" aims to contribute to the development of local communities by promising the reliable purchase of ingredients at acceptable prices. The second principle "Purchase of Eco-friendly Ingredients" is to disclose the origin of ingredients transparently to ensure that customers can feel safe and that the company can obtain ingredients of good quality. Lastly, the third principle "Environmental Protection" aims to take the initiatives in protecting the ecosystem by preventing environmental damage that might take place in the process of cultivating and harvesting plant ingredients by, for example, not using chemical fertilizers.

Amorepacific is actively implementing the Beautiful Fair Trade program, recording nine domestic contracts and one global contract as of 2015. Through this, the company can secure safe and reliable ingredients, and producers can secure a reliable source of income. In this way, Amorepacific is completing its unique healthy beauty in a world where nature, people and businesses co-exist in harmony.

The innisfree Camellia line is made of clean camellia petals collected by the elderly women living in Dongbaek Village, Jeju Island. These ladies in their 70s and 80s, who represent most of the villagers, earn money by collecting seeds and petals fallen in the forest and bringing them to their community center. Camellia petals and seeds produced from Dongbaek Village, which is the first contracted region for Beautiful Fair Trade, are clean ingredients cultivated without using any agricultural pesticide or chemical fertilizers.
With its excellent ability to enhance the hair's sheen, camellia oil has been used as a main ingredient of hair sheen enhancers since the old times. Camellia is known for its versatility: Camellia petals prevent skin oxidation and help maintain a smooth skin texture. Amorepacific collects only camellia seeds and flowers fallen after full blossom in the forest, and keeps its promise that it will not have any negative influence on the camellia forest.

The first global contract Amorepacific had for its Beautiful Fair Trade program was for seeds of mangoes cultivated in Jamui, India. Mango butter extracted from the seeds is used as an ingredient in primera's body care products. Jamui is one of the poorest regions in India with its per capita GDP being only around KRW 2 million, which is similar to the lowest family income level in India with the illiteracy rate of women in the region being as high as 53%.
After contemplating the most feasible way to help the girls in Jamui, in 2013, primera launched "Let's Love Campaign," a project for donating mango seedlings. The aim was to support the lives of the girls by donating part of the profits. The mango seed purchase project is economically beneficial for the villagers and has also created jobs. Considering the characteristics of Jamui where girls are severely discriminated, the company has supported the rearing and education of families with any young girl by letting them provide mango seedlings.

Lilies are good for supplementing a "yin" energy, stabilizing the state of mind and improving the sheen of the skin. Amorepacific signed a Beautiful Fair Trade contract in 2012, having an interest in the lilies in Taean, Chungcheongnam-do, which are cultivated through an environmentally friendly method without using any chemical fertilizers or agricultural pesticides. Floricultural farms have had difficulties in securing reliable markets due to the short shelf life and low applicability of products. The residents in this region, however, signed the Beautiful Fair Trade contract with Amorepacific. They collect and dry about two tons of environmentally friendly lily roots every year and deliver them to the company as cosmetics ingredients. In this way, the company is building a reliable ingredient supply system through contracted cultivation, contributing to the growth of the incomes of farmers and the vitalization of the local economy. Before signing the contract, the farms in the region would export only lily flowers to Japan and China, but due to severe price fluctuations, sometimes they had to earn less than the price of the seeds. After signing the Beautiful Fair Trade contract, however, now they have a reliable customer to whom they can sell the roots of lilies, which is an important source of income.

In addition to its Beautiful Fair Trade program, Amorepacific has also made efforts to strengthen the sustainability of ingredients. The company established a framework for sustainable ingredients in 2011 and established main strategies in three areas: the strengthening of society, environment, and customer friendliness. Along with prohibition of animal experimentations, Beautiful Fair Trade is one of the main strategies for strengthening social friendliness. The strategy for strengthening environmental friendliness focuses on expanding the use of renewable ingredients and preserving biodiversity. Lastly, the strategy for strengthening customer friendliness includes expanding the use of naturally-derived ingredients.
